We have moved in but KPLC has not connected us. What are our options?

A properly sized solar and battery system will run a household indefinitely, and if it is specified as hybrid from the start it simply switches to offsetting your bill once the connection arrives. What we would avoid is a temporary generator-only arrangement, which costs more per month than the solar payment.

Why does earthing need special attention here?

A high water table sounds like it should help, and in resistance terms it does, but the electrode and its inspection pit sit in ground that floods, so corrosion and access both become issues. It needs the right electrode material and a pit that can actually be opened and read.
